Poetry: Two Quotations about November

From NO!
by Thomas Hood

No warmth, no cheerfulness, no healthful ease,
No comfortable feel in any member --
No shade, no shine, no butterflies, no bees,
No fruits, no flowers, no leaves, no birds, --
      November!

From CALENDAR OF HAIKU*
by Jane Merchant

NOVEMBER

Gray day of no blooms
Save briefly, just before dark,
Chrysanthemum sun.
