A Poem by Emily Dickinson and a Hymn by George Beverly Shea

An untitled poem by Emily Dickinson
on help to the distressed

If I can stop one Heart from breaking
I shall not live in vain
If I can ease one Life the Aching
Or cool one Pain

Or help one fainting Robin
Unto his Nest again
I shall not live in Vain.

Now listen to an audio recording of George Beverly Shea singing the hymn "If I Can Help Somebody."
